As the saying goes, “When one door closes, another one opens” And in catering we believe this to be the case…. At least that’s what we think…
This event for BET couldn’t be a better example of just that.
With the New Year beginning, we wanted to hit the ground running, and our calendar for January looked pretty good. Our creative director Dan Smith had a small event in the first week for twenty people, which was pretty much ready to go. Then, out of no where it was canceled… Great, not even a week into the year and people are canceling parties…The door was closed on that one.
Wedding Styles Posted by Desireè OK, so not the most original of titles but totally appropriate for what I'm going to share with you. Of course that phrase --let them eat cake -- was allegedly uttered by Marie Antoinette, one of the original fashion doyennes, and it's been a hot topic for years ... did she say it or not? AN OCEAN OF COLOR We called this award-winning wedding Oceans of Love because it took place in Malibu overlooking one of the most famous Pacific Ocean spots in California. But it could easily have been called Oceans of Color for the five spicy hues the wedding reception and the bridesmaids wore.

Joanne Purnell is a graduate of the California Culinary Institute and before joining GG! Events worked and traveled in England and Paris to gain working experience.
Joanne has been Chef de Cuisine for nearly 20 years at GG! Events and during this time she has won numerous awards including Chef of the Year. She has been published in magazines on various food topics including presentation, trends and all aspects of cooking and is a contributor for, “Inside the Recipe Box of Catering Chefs”
Joanne is an educator in the catering industry and is regarded as a leader. Today, Joanne is Vice President at Good Gracious! Events.
